AboutUs

The Rotaract Club of Bournemouth is part of District 1110 covering parts of Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Channel Islands.

We were chartered on the 9th November 2000, an evening most memorable to all present. The theme was 007 James Bond, a theme we carried through to our 1st Birthday, where we re-created Casino Royale.

We have approximately 12 members ranging from 18 to 28 years and from a variety of backgrounds including students, teaching assistants, hospitalĀ and care workers and computer programmers.

We are an enthusiastic bunch of people that are always doing something fun and exciting. We have a strong social scene and help many various charities and take part in community projects.

This combination of fun, enthusiasm, friendship and community/charity work restulted in the club being awarded a cup as:

Rotaract in Great Britain & Ireland Club of the Year 2002

The cup was awarded for the first time at the Rotaract Great Britain and Ireland Conference in Southampton in May 2002.

Bournemouth Rotaract was only 18 months old at the time, and to have been awarded such a prize is magnificent! The Founder President, Lisa Burnett was at the conference to receive the award. She said that she felt very proud of the fact that the club had won and hoped that they could keep up the good work.

It was an amazing conference giving us all the chance to meet with other members from around RGB&I. It was a fun filled weekend and all who attended had the experience of a true Rotaract conference!
