Do you want to help local, national and international charities and have fun at the same time? We do, and this page shows some of the ways we have achieved this.. Annually each Rotaract club nominates a charity that it will support during the year. These can be local, national or even international charities and money is raised by a variety of events ranging from tin-shakes to sporting events to organised socials such as formal dinners. |

| SPRING Fling - Winner of the RGBI Ron Boyce Award 2005 | |||||
The biggest event that took place within our club in the 2003-2004 year was our SPRING Fling, held on May the 28th. It was a fantastic night attended by 150 people, with entertainment from Rhythm Café, an 8-piece band, and all profits being split between the charity SPRING and the Rotaract 2005 Conference. Everyone had a great time and helped us to raise lots of money, we even had the winner of the 1st prize of the raffle donate it back again for an auction which raised a further £120! The raffle was a great success and we would like to thank everyone who made the effort to take part, we could not have done it without you.We are pleased to announce that a total of £ £2,082.32 was raised, just over £900 was donated to the RGBI 2005 Conference and over £1,000 was donated to SPRING. This is a fantastic achievement and helps to demonstrate just what Rotaract is capable of! As a result of this fantastic project, Bournemouth Rotaract were the proud winners of the Ron Boyce Award 2005. This award is given to the Rotaract Club in Great Britain and Ireland that has organised the best fundraising project that year, as voted on by delegates at the RGBI Conference. |

| Kinson Fete and Donkey Derby | |||||
May started in style with the club helping out Bournemouth North Rotary Club with their Annual May Day Fete. Except this year it had a twist… it was also a Donkey Derby. One of our jobs was to help on the candifloss machine but the most demanding job was running the children’s donkey rides. We all assumed that we would have trouble hanging onto the donkeys and getting them to slow down, in fact it was the opposite. Could we get the animals to move? No not at all, if they didn’t want to go they wouldn’t! Once we had discovered the magic trick (pat them gently on their backsides and they soon move) we had a great time! |

| Annual Children in Need Limousine Fundraiser! | |||||
How do you capture the imagination of children and give a prize that their parents would want to win at the same time as raising money for Children in Need? That is a question the members of Bournemouth Rotaract managed to answer…fill a limousine with balloons and ask the public to guess how many are in there! Every year on a sunny (actually no its normally cold and drizzley!) day in November Bournemouth Rotaract Club are seen in Bournemouth Town Centre setting up the their fund raising project for Children in Need. It is always a challenge in itself blowing up enough balloons to fill the huge white limousine, kindly donated by South Coast Limousines, but we manage it! Once organised we all spring into action, asking the public to make donations to Children in Need and guess the number of balloons in the car. The person who guesses the nearest to the correct number of balloons wins a trip out in the limousine, with the second and third prize of a Pudsey Bear soft toy. The event is well supported by the shoppers in the town, and Bournemouth Rotaract would like to thank all those people who donated to children in need and have helpd us raise to a massive total of over £1500.00 to date. |
